7 million reasons …
“It Ain’t What You Do It’s the Way That You Do It” sang Bananarama in 1982.
And they could have been written with Turkish butcher Nusret Gokce in mind …
Whom you might know better as Salt Bae.
Still puzzled?
Salt Bae opened his first restaurant back in 2010 and now has restaurants all over the world, including his latest, which opened in London last year.
He hit the headlines thanks to his gold leaf tomahawk steak, which will set you back a modest £850.
Critics have panned him but fans flock through his doors like there’s no tomorrow.
So much so that his Knightsbridge restaurant has just boasted takings of £7m in its first four months of trading.
And it’s all down to his highly theatrical method of salting his steaks.
People love a bit of theatre and in Gokce’s case, a little bit of theatre goes a long, long way.
I think I’ll pass on his tomahawk steak but perhaps it’s time for us all to apply a bit of theatre to what we all do.
