A divided nation …
The nation is divided.
Divided as to whether the change to British Summer Time is good or bad, that is.
I must admit, I love it, but I’m as happy as a neutered cat when the clocks go back an hour at the end of October.
But not everyone thinks the same way.
I’ve heard many people say that it takes them days to adjust.
One prominent journalist even thinks daylight saving is clinically insane and makes his opinion known whenever the opportunity arises.
Closer to home, Mrs S’ grandmother disliked the hour change so much that she decided up with it she was not going to put.
Not willing to endure major discombobulation to her routine, she changed her clocks not once but SIX times.
Moving the time forward or back 10 minutes every day until the appointed Sunday when she resynchronised with the rest of us.
Genius. Absolute genius.
Small daily incremental changes that didn’t frighten the horses and barely caused a ripple to her routine – even if it did cause a bit of bother when it came to listening to the 9 O’Clock news.
The business takeaway in this?
Small, incremental changes are good, and all that’s needed to make significant and long-lasting improvements, whether in our businesses or at home.
Until next week!
