Ice Planes and Bat Bombs …
We’ve all encountered our fair share of swivel-eyed loons in our time.
Eyes revolving like a washing machine on full spin.
Trousers several inches too short, and they rarely wear socks, either.
Their brains are whirring faster than a hamster wheel attached to an electric drill as they fire off wacky idea after wacky idea.
Being around them for any length of time leaves you utterly exhausted. If only you could wrap a hot towel tightly around your head to ease the pain.
But maybe, just maybe we should give them and their ideas a little more credit.
One of my heroes who certainly doesn’t fall under the description above is Barnes Wallis, the brilliant inventor during World War Two.
But he did come up with ideas such as sending bats into battle rigged with incendiary devices.
And he also had a plan for planes made out of ice!
Both of which would have had nurse rushing to draw the screens.
But then he did come up with the idea of the bouncing bomb.
Four tonnes of steel and high explosives that quite literally bounced across the water, and no one thought the idea would work. Until it did.
Having a million and one far-fetched ideas is a million and one times better than having none at all.
While most of them are probably completely nuts – one or two (with a bit of spit and polish) could be pure genius.
Thinking outside of the box does have its advantages.
Especially in today’s volatile business climate.
If you’d like to brainstorm a few ideas to get your print project off the ground, why not give me a call?
Until next week.
