Trapped in a dark, frozen hellhole …

So that’s it for another five months.

The British Summer Time Act decreed that our clocks had to go back an hour, and “ZAP,” the dark evenings seemed to bring Winter ever closer.

An early evening walk last week was a reminder of the immense forces at play as the earth’s journey around the sun dictates our seasons.

At the Autumn equinox, the sun’s path passed over the equator and will continue its steady journey south until it reaches the tropic of Capricorn on Saturday, the 21st of December.

At 09:19, if you’re interested.

But we’re not trapped in a dark, frozen hellhole for long.

Slowly but surely, the sun will retrace its steps, bringing us ever more light and warmth along the way.

The forces of physics that control our planet are of a scale that’s almost impossible to comprehend.

We’re living on a lump of rock that’s spinning at almost 1,000 miles per hour.

And our 67,000 miles an hour orbit around the sun would keep the speed cameras busy for a while.

Try sticking your head out of a car window at 20mph and it makes you think.

On one hand, life events take place at incredible speed, but on the other hand, the gentle passage of the seasons suggests otherwise.

Something we could learn from as life flashes past in a blur, but at the same time, we realise that we do have time to do the things that we need to do.

As the days draw in, it’s a sign that we should be turning our attention to our campaigns and promotions for next year, confident that we’ll soon need to be ready to roll them out.

If not, I doubt whether our competitors are quite as laid back.

Are you ready?

Have a great week.
