Zooming Back to Reality …
Zoom has changed our lives.
Yet like any advanced tech, it has its infuriating moments.
But during the pandemic, the video communications platform was a Godsend.
But it isn’t real.
Stories abound of people wearing shirts on top and tutus and fluffy slippers out of sight below desk height.
Some couldn’t even be arsed to do anything other than roll out of bed for the next call and pretended that their video camera was on the blink so we couldn’t see their bed-hair and bloodshot eyes.
And now the game is up.
Because Zoom’s boss, Eric Yuan no less, has told his staff that it’s time to get back to the office so that they can start to interact properly with each other.
Yet, this doesn’t mean the end of Zoom.
Far from it.
It just means that it’s got to find a new modus operandi.
And it will, because it is an incredibly useful tool and used properly it’s a tremendous force for good.
Just like they said print was dead because we’d all go digital.
Well, a lot of stuff did move across to the digital space, and it was the right way to go.
It allowed us to evolve.
And in the new space this evolution has created print has become a means to make better, more long-lasting connections than it ever did before
And it couldn’t have done that without the competition from the digital arena.
Something to dwell on as you plan new campaigns to reach out to connect with your customers more effectively this Autumn.
Until next time.
